Children’s Education & Village Reconstruction in the Nayabasti Community, Kathmandu

The Nayabasti community consists of families originally from India who lost their homes during the 2016 earthquake. They now live just a few hundred meters from the magnificent Boudhanath Stupa—one of the most iconic landmarks in Kathmandu and all of Nepal.

Most families in the community live in single-room apartments. For all 50 households, there are only six shared toilets and three shared shower facilities. The basic living conditions demand tremendous effort, particularly from the women, who manage most of the household responsibilities.

Due to widespread unemployment and irregular income, many families cannot afford to send their children to school. However, thanks to our Compassion-in-Action trip to Kathmandu in early 2025 by our Executive Director Alexia Cito and dedicated LPHF Volunteers Tom Hecker and Caroline Riezler, Love Peace Harmony Foundation is now sponsoring the education of 43 children from the Nayabasti community. This marks a significant step toward a brighter future for these children and their families.

how to support?

You can be the reason a child’s future changes forever. Right now, 43 children from the Nayabasti community have the opportunity to attend Lord’s Light Academy—receiving not only an education, but also hope, dignity, and the chance to break free from the cycle of poverty. But this life-changing gift is only possible with your support.  Your donation will directly fund their scholarships, ensuring these children have access to quality education, a safe learning environment, and the tools they need to dream bigger and achieve more.  Every contribution, no matter the size, is an investment in a child’s potential—and in a brighter future for the whole community.

Education and loving support for children from remote regions in the Himalayas

The Snowland Ranaq Light of Education School is located on the outskirts of Kathmandu and is led by Rinpoche Dolpho Buddha. The school is home to more than 170 children from remote Himalayan regions. These children would otherwise have no access to education, as there is no infrastructure in their home villages. For most of them, living at the school for many years without physical contact with their parents and families is incredibly difficult. Their villages are simply too far away for regular visits or communication. In 2017, a documentary titled Children of the Snowland was filmed, providing a powerful insight into the lives and challenges of these children. Our volunteer, Tom Hecker, has built a meaningful connection with the school. He facilitates a regular virtual session for the children to practice in the Love Peace Harmony Field to support their emotional well-being. We are currently sponsoring 21 children at the school — and we would be deeply grateful for your support to continue this important work.

Your generosity can help ensure that these bright, resilient children continue to receive the education, care, and emotional support they deserve. By sponsoring their schooling, you’re not only opening the door to knowledge and opportunity but also offering comfort and hope to young hearts separated from their families. Together, we can nurture their dreams, strengthen their spirit, and give them the tools to build a brighter future for themselves and uplift their communities. Donate today, and be a lifeline for the children of Snowland Ranaq Light of Education School.
